“Hidden in the middle of Madison Avenue in Manhattan, Lørdag snugly sits away from the bustle of the nearby Metropolitan Museum…”

Lørdag

“Lørdag” is the Danish word for Saturday. As the name for my imaginary restaurant, it warmly welcomes people to enjoy their time without worrying about tomorrow.

Here in Lørdag, people can dine in three ways: through a chef special menu, a seasonal tasting menu, or a prix-fixe menu. The rustic decor complements the refined dishes including crispy pork with creamy parsley sauce and boiled potatoes (Stegt flæsk), as well as open-faced sandwiches topped with raw herring and hard-boiled eggs (Smørrebrød). After 9 PM, the background music will be replaced by fiddles and accordions, and the air will full of a smell of herbs and spices. Friends who have known each other for decades sit at the table and chat enthusiastically with Aquavit in their hands. The cheerful atmosphere will last until midnight, and people will leave together with great satisfaction.
